Holly (Ilex aquifolium)

The phrase ‘Happy Holidays’ is often used as a generic cover-all greeting that includes Christmas, New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year, Thanksgivings, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

Holly is an evergreen tree that is native to most of the central and southern parts of Europe and grows in North America as well. Holly is one of the most striking features in winter gardens. This branch, that I’ve drawn, comes from our garden.

Holly branches make wonderful centrepieces or winter decorations for any table top, however, be careful with children: the berries are very toxic.

Paula Kuitenbrouwer sells exquisite fine art cards of her drawings as well as reproductions, and of some drawings smaller business-, gift- or mummy-cards. See Purchase in the header for what is available as well as the price list. In case you like to commission Paula, contact her at mindfuldrawing@gmail.com
