I’ve designed a typical winter, Yule, Christmas fabric with Poinsettias. This warm flower adds colour to the winter season. The grey winter season misses out green and red, and golden spark or glitter to warm our soul. Add colour to your winter to feel spirited.
RED LEAVES AND CHESTNUT COLLECTING
During a walk, I came across these bright red autumn leaves. I couldn’t resist to collect them and brought them home. I couldn’t resist picking up fresh fallen chestnuts either. Why is this?
Is it because it makes me relive my youth, in which chestnut collecting was a sport with neighbouring kid friends? But if that is the case, I also should long for a ball game in the backyard, which I don’t do (although I wouldn’t shy away, if I were to be challenged).
I’m not alone in this; I see many adults picking chestnuts and acorns. They quickly put them in their pockets, and if you catch them in the action, they smile.
The seasons change so fast, collecting a shiny chestnut is holding on to a precious moment and symbol of autumn. This one chestnut, which will lose its shiny and smooth skin, represents us. Time flies by and we age. We like to hold on to this moment; in which the world seems healthy, the trees bombard us with their fruits, in which we are young and old at the same time, preforming a ritual that we will do till we are too old to bend over.
Collect your acorns and chestnuts mindfully and hold on to them for a beautiful meditation. Then plant them, because that is what the trees and the chestnuts want us to do; to continue the cycle of life without clinging.
