Poor bird! It must have seen a new world reflected in your window. Sometimes birds do fly against the window here too. I think they suddenly panic because of an overflying hawk or buzzard. The big birds just leave a print on the window, but we had a fatal crash of a sweet, little bird. It broke my daughter’s and my heart. Such a perfect bird.
Yes, woodcocks are somewhat plumb and have a characteristic shape. They have wonderful colours too.
