The sound of house sparrows brings me back to moments spent on my grandparents’ farm as a child. They occupied what we called the dooryard and woke me with their sweet songs from many a nap. I’d call him ” Brill” …don’t know why? Maybe because it sounds like the manly form of trill. They have a “talkative” community.
So true, Susan. I have studied them too and I saw such human way of living. They go out for dinner together and when their tummies are full, they fly to a bush nearby and have a long chat about life. If you really listen to that chat, it sounds hilariously human.
I think ‘Larry’. All suggested names are wonderful, but when I had a talk/tweet with House Sparrow and asked him if he would be happy with the name ‘Larry’, he became very excited.
Sue Sparrow? I like these kinds of birds. They’re so friendly. Nice drawing!
Sue Sparrow is nice, but there is a slight problem with ‘Sue’. This house sparrow is a male. Sorry, I should have told you!

Larry
Larry is just perfect. Perfect!
Captain Jack Sparrow – I know it’s not original, but it just popped into my head.
Such a cute bird and great drawing.
Captain Jack Sparrow is such a good name. Thank you.
Mel (for Mel Torme)
Mel is great too, but a bit too mild. We are talking a very cheeky house sparrow here
What about Erich, Franz or Hans? You know Mr Morgenstern’s poem about the three sparrows?

Hans the House Sparrow…yeh!
Hmm. I think he looks bit like a Fritz. Perhaps
‘Fritz the House Sparrow’, now that sounds very posh.
What fun – does he have a name yet?

Henny and I are pleased.
It’s nice to give named some input as to what they will be called. Give Larry a wink for me
